A year-long study designed to modernize civil court policies and processes
The Center for Research, Policy, & Research (CEPR) conducted a study that tested the feasibility and validity of The Pew Charitable Trusts’ (“Pew”) new framework of civil court modernization principles and related performance measures that seeks to enable and gauge courts' progress towards becoming more modern. The resulting project toolkit and report are detailed in a recent article published by Pew.
The framework and toolkit are designed to support U.S. civil court staff and leaders in their modernization efforts, providing metrics and practical steps for reform with respect to a court's size and resources. The recommendations are grounded in the study's analyses and are “centered on three core principles: openness, effectiveness, and equity.”
